Got a new flash light.
Was walking my dog and tried out this new light I got as a sample from NEBO. This may be the brightest thing ever, plus it has a magnet on the back which is also ridiculously powerful. I don't see many people forking over the $25 msrp though. Only uses 1 AAA battery as well. Like a lot of LED's the distance isn't that great, but the width of the area illuminated is mighty impressive.
Passes the ole shine through the knuckles test with flying colors.

Needs more power. Get something that run's on 2 CR123's and uses a Cree XM-L2 LED. The throw on some of those is incredible, and you could practically look straight through bones they are so bright.

I'll check them out. I was just surprised by this thing since it looks like one of the cheapo's you find at a checkout counter.

Yeah thats true, I know what lights you're talking about. check out this one: http://www.foursevens.com/products/MM-X-… and even though this isn't exactly handheld, it's basically a portable sun: http://www.foursevens.com/products/XM18

my go-to lights over the years have been these, with a few other random ones thrown in for fun. But I always come back to these:
In AAA for keyring duty or other EDC or general use, I like something like a Fenix E05 or an ITP A3 Eos, both of which you can find on Amazon for about $20. They both come in lots of different colors and there are a few versions of the ITP in titanium if that floats your boat. The Eos line eventually became Olight i-series Eos lights, but there's lots of the older ITPs still out there, and are a definite bargain. The one I use is actually Maratac's version , which came in stainless steel and other metals. They still sell an aluminum-bodied one, and are now up to version 3 , which has added some cool features but is close to $30. And that sites S&H fees are ridiculous and tiered based on USPS rates, so if you just buy the flashlight it'd be about $40, which isn't really worth it.
For something with more power, I have never been let down by the Solarforce system of P60 hosts. They're basically high-quality Surefire 6P knockoffs that accept LED dropins, but the price you pay and what you get for your money are unbeatable, IMO. I like these because they're modular and battery-flexible and there's a million different kinds of dropins you can run. I have an L2T head and tailcap on an L2P body, running a single-mode, 800 lumen LED dropin off of a single 18650 cell in my bug-out-bag.

I'm going to keep those in mind. I really want one of those modular ones.

They're a great way to get into the P60 system. And you can Lego them almost any way you like with tons of accessories.
If you do buy one, I'd recommend using the link to their store in my last reply. There's a ton of fakes and stuff on eBay that are really crappy. Poor machining and anodizing. I have been OK with waiting for the stuff to ship from HK if I know it's going to be good quality. The Solarforce dropins are pretty good, but you can get them on DX or kaidomain or manafont for slightly less money, but they might be duds. There's also ppl who build custom dropins but they are gonna be 2x the price of the host alone or more. I've never seen the need to spend that much TBH but some folks love that stuff.
Let me know if you want more info

Thanks a lot. I bookmarked that link for when I'm ready to get one.
